Testing Fallacies and types

So...I've seen in this forum where people have claimed that the HIV testing used in america has been banned in the UK, but despite all my searching I haven't found this. Does anyone have any links to official UK gov't sites or whatnot? I recently went to a free dinner where they were giving a talk on HIV/AIDS and meds (a doc from a pharmeceutical company) who I posed the question to, and he said that the western blot and elisa are indeed used in the UK (but then again, hes from big pharma, so who knows what the truth is)
I also had asked him what was more valid for a test....an antibody test, or a viral load test. He said the antibody test was more accurate, and the viral test had more margin for error, tho I've also heard the opposite from others. So I dont know what to believe.
In any case, regardless of disease, i beleive its a result of toxicity in the body/mind/spirit and cleansing and balancing all those will bring any condition into harmony/healing.

In any case...
Im getting tested today. Haven't had a test in around 3 years, tho for the most part Im fairly low risk. I have anal sex like maybe 6 times a year (if that) this past several months (like 7) i havent at all, tho I do have oral sex. (and when i do have anal I ALWAYS use protection, and I dont drink, smoke, or do drugs, so im always sober)
I did find out something disturbing tho, that someone I briefly dated apparently has been positive for almost a decade, but lies about it to people and goes around barebacking, and doing sexwork, without being honest about it, and has allegedly infected people.
Of course if people are stupid enough to believe someone, and just randomly bareback, well....
yeah..

So...the reason Im more concerned, and its not a HUGE risk, but still a risk, I had met him originally at MACK (sexclub on folsom) and I was lying down on my back, and he was straddling me and we were making out. Of course it gathered a crowd, and of course the RUDE crowd of guys feel its their right to touch and do things to you, just because youre in a public sex club (without asking permission, mind you)
and took my penis, and started to put it into the guys ass (that I was kissing) I couldnt see what was happening, and I thought someone was orally going down on me, and after about 20 seconds, I decided I really didnt want strangers touching me/doing things to me without permission and I put my hand back there....and discovered what was going on. I was pissed at the guy I was with, because he obviously could feel it (tho he claimed ignorance and assumption that all was safe even tho he felt something penetrating) and I got up and washed right away, in the shower and peed right away, to clear the urethra. Being that I was the penetrator, and that it was very short lived, not a deep penetration and I had no sores, Im sure the risk was minimal, but Im getting checked anyways. That was over a year ago. I was going to test sooner, then I read on here about the false positives of these tests used, and thought, whats the point of getting tested if its probably gonna be false.
I have strong beleifs in natural health/healing and whatnot, but its hard to divert subconscious programming from over a decade too.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps I shoulda made this post into 2 strings...but alas...here it is.

"but its hard to divert subconscious programming from over a decade too."

Shek, you have a good idea about the 'subconscious mind,' and how programming we allow into it, can become our reality. Also, seems to me that you know how to use your mind and know what to put into your mind, so, maybe that's why your results came back neg because you've already programmed your mind on a higher conscious level. Considering that you've not stressed out your body over the years, chances are, that's another reason your results came back neg.

But in regards to putting yourself in a position to be 'touched' by all kinds of strange nasty men: You lay with or near Jabba the Hut...you will get slimed.

I dont beleive the results came back neg because I was hoping they would. While I do believe in the power of the mind, I've had relatively little risk. Perhaps youre confused...others in this tribe have thought that I was positive. Ive never tested positive. I always practice safer anal sex, except that brief semi dry insertion. and I was on top. So even then when there is some risk, it still wasnt that much.

do the lubricants on condoms cause false pos results?

why would anyone get this test, knowing how lousy it is, when the end result is an insurance nightmare for the rest of your life, travel bans, and god knows what other oppression in the future of our lovely governmental policy makers.

if i hadnt tested poz years ago, ... knowing what i know now, i would NEVER get a test.

if they find that you are poz, you will never know if you are true poz or false poz, given the many things that cloud the accuracy of the test.

im curious, what is driving you to test?

If you are questioning the validity of the tests, why get tested? In my mind it is a total waste of time and energy, and something that can cause unnecessary psychological and legal complications if you happen to get a positive result.

I think it's each individual's responsibility to follow their own boundaries with sex, not their partners. If you want to be safe, then decide what that means for you and be safe. It's entirely up to you. Short of rape, nobody can make you do anything sexual that you don't want to do.

I'm partnered now, but when I was promiscuous I wouldn't assume that I had to tell anyone anything about myself. In casual encounters the culture is not usually one of proactive disclosure. If somebody wants information from you, it's their job to ask. When people did ask, I would tell them straight up the last time I tested negative, that I'd had unprotected sex since then, and that I don't believe AIDS is caused by a sexually transmitted virus. I'm not that desperate for sex that I would lie or tell them what I think they want to hear.

Honesty is always better. But don't assume somebody needs to know unless they ask you. That's my opinion, anyway!
